These methods of removing the keyboard may not be applicable or somehow different to other brands of laptops.

Materials Needed:

- Laptop

- Flat head screwdriver

- Phillips head screwdriver

Step 1

Turn off the laptop if it is running. Removing the  ACER 04-NF01KUS00-1 tKeyboard while the laptop is running may cause accidents.

Step 2

Determine the location of the keyboard cover. This is a plate for covering the screws of the keyboard. The keyboard cover usually contains LED lights indicating if the laptop is running or charging. It is commonly located on the top of the keyboard and just below the monitor.

Step 3

You can remove the cover by using a flathead screwdriver. Place the screwdriver in the right slot. Use the screwdriver as a lever to pull up the keyboard cover. There may be cases when the cover is attached to the hinge cover. There are screws attaching the keyboard cover to the hinge cover. Unfasten each screw at the back of the computer. Do this before pulling up the cover with the use of flathead screwdriver.

Step 4

The screws holding the  ACER 04-NF01KUS00-1 tKeyboard on the holding board will be visible after removing the cover. There may be 3 to 4 screws holding the keyboard in place. Carefully remove each screw using the screwdriver. Place these screws into different containers assigned for each of the screw slot. This is because sometimes, the screws are different in size from one another.

Step 5

Gently lift the keyboard in the direction of the laptop screen. This is to view all the wires and cable connected to the keyboard and the system board.

Step 6

Properly remove the data cable from the motherboard. Do this by gently pulling on the cable plug in a vertical direction.

Protecting a ACER 002 -07A 23L -A01 Keyboard

Liquids can be a health hazard for laptop keyboards and can cause irreparable damage to your most valued possession. Although persistently advised to avoid keeping all forms of provisions and beverages at a close proximity to your laptop, some users have a habit of not paying any attention to such crucial information. Depending on the constituents of the proposed fluid a simple spill can become your worst nightmare as your system and keyboard will most likely not function or act like its former self. There are however certain solutions to protecting that cherished laptop keyboard from being exposed to liquid spills and having other substances fall on it… Buy a laptop keyboard cover (which is covered in the next section of the article).

We are all well aware of the fact that without a keyboard, a laptop is just a screen with lots of words on it. They keyboard allows computer users to type and move around on the screen. Therefore, the keyboard is an essential part of a good working laptop. To protect a laptop keyboard, the most important thing for computer users to do is, avoid the temptation of eating or drinking around a laptop (see precaution #2). Computer users can prevent liquid spills by ensuring their working space has no liquids that can spill over and on to the keyboard.

Advice: If a liquid spill occurs, immediately shutdown the laptop, unplug it and wipe off any visible spill from the  ACER 002 -07A 23L -A01 Keyboard as well as all other laptop components. Wait for the remaining liquid to dry. If the keyboard is damaged, bring it in for repair. A PC tech may be able to fix what was damaged. If not, another option would be find a compatible replacement (an external keyboard). The worst scenario would be needing to buy a new laptop with keyboard functions.

Here are a few precautions to help computer users understand the fundamental protection techniques of a laptop’s keyboard:

Avoid placing too much pressure on the keyboard caps as they may get damaged or break after extensive abuse.

Avoid placing liquids (like water or soda) and food near the keyboard as it may spill over or fall on to the laptop’s keyboard, which could permanently damage it.

Avoid buying a laptop cover that is not capable of protecting the entire keyboard (i.e., all keys, touch pad and wrist area).

Advice: The most sensitive part of a laptop keyboard may be the touch pad, so again refrain from placing any unnecessary pressure on the laptop’s keyboard surface.

Tip: The best way to protect a  ACER 002 -07A 23L -A01 Keyboard is to ensure no liquid spills, food, or dust gets in between the key caps. It is also a good idea for computer users to refrain from applying too much pressure on the key caps when they use it (for typing, gaming, navigating, and so on).

Laptop Keyboard Covers

Another efficient method would be to purchase a laptop skin or a laptop keyboard cover but keep in mind that the skin coincides with the laptop model. Available in several colors, a decent quality skin would cost you something in the range of $10-$30.

With an array of laptop keyboard covers available at almost every store, choosing the right one can be an overwhelming task. For those of you who are into functionality rather than personality, things become much simpler. All you have to do is simply ask for directions to the purposeful products aisle and you are all set to go.

How to Clean a Laptop Keyboard

Before you start cleaning your TOSHIBA K000029390  Keyboard, make sure it is unplugged and powered off. (It is always better to have a dirty laptop than to shock yourself or ruin your machine during the cleaning process.) Also, remove the mouse, any discs or CDs, USB drives and anything else that is protruding from your machine.

The process you will use to clean your laptop has to do with how ambitious you are feeling at the time and how hardy your machine happens to be. For example, on some machines it is easy to pop the keys off and put them back on. But on others, it is about as simple as performing brain surgery. In other words, if you’re not confident that you can get the keys back on your laptop’s keyboard, do not take them off. You will still be able to clean your laptop pretty well. Not sure? Check the owner’s manual.

Cleaning your laptop with the keys intact If you’ve elected to take the easy road and leave the keys attached to your laptop, you can clean in between them by using a can of compressed air. Be aware that a can of compressed air does not simply contain air but contains a toxic chemical. So be careful when handling it and never hold the bottle upside down. Just tilt it at an angle two or three inches away from your key board as you direct the air between the keys. The good thing about having a laptop is that if it is too difficult to tilt the can of air you can always tilt your computer. Just be careful not to drop it.

If you feel comfortable doing it, you can also hold your laptop upside down over a trash can and tap on it lightly to dislodge any remaining debris that might be hiding in there once you’re done spraying.

Cleaning your laptop with the keys removed

If you’ve decided that you would like to take off the keys, use a knife or similar object to gently pop them off. Then store them in a safe place so that they don’t get lost. Even if you’re one of the confident ones, it’s still recommended that you leave the space bar and other larger keys in place. They are a real doozy to get back on due to their design.

Once you’ve pried all of the keys off of your laptop that you will be prying, place them in a small bowl, such as a cereal bowl, and add a couple drops of dish soap for hand washing to clean them with some light scrubbing. (Be sure to plug the drain if the bowl is in the sink.) Then follow the rest of the steps below while they soak.

Cleaning the rest of the laptop

Unlike a traditional desktop keyboard, your laptop has many more nooks and crannies that need to be cleaned, such as drives, ports and the touchpad. For any nook and cranny type areas, the best thing to do is just spray inside them with the compressed air. Remember that the air is pressurized so you don’t want to get too close to the surface or this pressure could damage your computer.

For the rest of the TOSHIBA K000029390 Keyboard, such as the touchpad, you can use a cloth that will not leave fuzz, such as an old t-shirt or handkerchief, a microfiber cloth, or one made specifically for electronics.

Dampen the cloth by dipping it in a solution of half lukewarm water and half isopropyl alcohol, a bowl of lukewarm water with a drop of dish detergent for hand washing, or just lukewarm water if your laptop is not that dirty. Wring out the cloth (water dripping into your machine, bad thing) and then wipe the keyboard top, sides and bottom. If you’re having trouble cleaning a tight area, such as where the monitor meets the keyboard, you can use a cotton swab. Just be careful that the swab doesn’t shed.

*You can also use electronics cleaner of course. Always spray it on the cloth, not the machine.

If you have the little rubber nub in the middle of your TOSHIBA K000029390 Keyboard, known as the pointer, you can remove it from the keyboard and drop it in the cleaning solution or give it a quick onceover with an old toothbrush to remove any gunk from the grooves.

Letting your keyboard dry

Leave your laptop out so that it can dry. Do not shut the lid. Hopefully, since you used the water or cleaning solution sparingly, it should not take very long. If you removed the keys from your keyboard, you can set them out on the counter or table or wipe them dry with your cloth (if it’s not dry, use a new one of course). Then pop them back on when you’re sure that your machine and the keys are both fully dry.

Never plug in and/or turn on your machine until you are positive that it has dried completely.

Major Spill?

If you’ve had a major accident with some Starbucks and your laptop is swimming in non-fat latte, you may have to remove the entire keyboard in order to clean up the mess. Of course, this is easier said than done. Consult the owner’s manual or call the manufacturer to determine your best course of action in this situation.

Keeping your laptop’s keyboard clean

Of course, there is no way your laptop will remain spotless with regular use, but you can attempt to keep it from harm by not eating or drinking in its presence. Also, try to find a non-dusty area in which to use it. Not only is this better for your computer, it’s also better for your lungs.

How to Repair a Broken Key on LENOVO T410 Keyboard

If you have a LENOVO T410 laptop computer, you may have already figured out how easily the keys can pop off the keyboard. If you take it for repair, your computer may have to be sent out for repairs. Don’t go to those lengths when you can easily repair the key yourself. How to repair a broken key on your LENOVO T410 Keyboard:

Step One- Look at the bottom of the broken key. You will see too parts. Each part under the key is moveable. If both pieces aren’t under the key, look at the keyboard where the key came off. The second piece may still be on the keyboard. Get the second piece off the keyboard by gently pulling it upward.

Step Two- Attach the loose piece to the underside of the key that needs repaired. You can do this by simply snapping it into place where the prongs are at the top of the key. Both pieces should not be attached to the key itself and be moveable.

Step Three- Move the outer piece so that it is as far open as you can get it. Push and hold the inner piece close to the key. Place the outer piece at the top of the keyboard where the missing key is. Slide the outer piece onto the hooks in the keyboard and gently pull forward. The top of the piece should now be attached to the keyboard.

Step Four- Press down on the front of the key so that it moves towards the keyboard. The key should snap into place. There is a chance that the key could be too tight on the keyboard. If so, remove the key by reversing the actions and try again.

It may take a few minutes the first time that you try to repair a key on a keyboard the first time. Before you know it, you will be a pro at it and you will never have to take your computer to get a key replaced again on your laptop computer. Don’t just set the key aside and lose it either. It can be very difficult to type properly when you have a missing key on your LENOVO T410 Keyboard and eventually it will stop working if you don’t repair the problem.

How to use LENOVO Laptop Keyboard

Whenever you use a computer, you’ll probably use LENOVO Laptop Keyboard. The most common kind is referred to as a ‘QWERTY’ keyboard after the keys on the top row of letters. It was invented by C L Scholes in the 1860s when he was working out the best place to put the keys on a manual typewriter.

Follow these step-by-step instructions to help you get to know what your keyboard can do

So that you can carry out the simple exercises below, you’ll need a document open to type into. Read our guides What is WordPad? and How to open WordPad. Then create a WordPad document and go through the following steps.

Step 1: Have a good look at your keyboard. The most important keys are labelled on the diagram below:

Computer keyboard diagram with labels

Click here for an enlarged version of the above diagram, which you can print out for easy reference.

Some keyboards, especially those on laptops, will have a slightly different layout. For example, yours might not have a number pad or the delete key may be in a different place. But virtually all keyboards will have these important keys somewhere.

Step 2: The main keys are the letter keys. When you type just using these, you get lower-case print. However, if you hold down a ‘shift key’ (there are two to choose from) at the same time as you type, you’ll get UPPER-CASE letters.

Try typing your name, including capitals (UPPER-CASE) and spaces. The ‘space bar’ (which you press briefly to make a space) is the wide key at the bottom of the keyboard.

Step 3: If you make a mistake in your typing, there’s always a remedy.

To delete a letter, place your cursor (mouse pointer) just after the letter and click. Then press Backspace briefly. (Always press briefly – otherwise, you’ll get repeated deletions, spaces, letters or whatever.) Or place your cursor just before the letter, click and press Delete.

Step 4: Now try typing a sentence:

This is a good sentence to practise because it contains most of the letters of the alphabet.

Step 5: You can move the cursor along this sentence without deleting anything by using the arrow keys:

Try moving the cursor backwards and forwards through your sentence.

Step 6: Now try using the number pad, if you have one.

To use this to type numbers, you have to press the Num Lock key. There may be an indicator light at the top of the keyboard or on the ‘Num Lock’ key itself to show that it’s on.

Step 7: You can also type using the numbers on the main keyboard. You’ll find them on the row of keys above the top line of letters.

Above these numbers are various symbols, which include ‘£’, ‘&’, ‘!’. To use these, hold down the Shift key while you type. So if you press ’7′ on its own, you get ’7′, but if you press ’7′ while you hold down the ‘Shift’ key, you get ‘&’.

Try typing:

You’ll find similar extra symbols elsewhere on the keyboard:

They operate in exactly the same way as the ones above the numbers.

Step 8: If you want everything to appear in upper case, press the Caps Lock key and then type:

Again, an indicator light may come on to show that your capitals are ‘locked’. Don’t forget to press this key again when you’re finished to turn ‘Caps Lock’ off.

Step 9: The ‘Windows’ key comes in a number of different designs, such as the example to the right.

It does exactly the same thing as the Windows button on the taskbar on your computer screen. You can choose to open the ‘Start’ menu by pressing this key or by clicking the button on the taskbar with your mouse.

Step 10: There are a number of ways that you can move round a web page. Try using the keys below to see where they take you:

Step 10: You’ll be told to use the ‘Control’ (Ctrl) and ‘Alternate’ (Alt) keys for some operations. When you do so, keep holding down one or the other key or both keys while you press any other keys.

For example, if you press CtrlAlt and Delete all at the same time, a menu will open. To make it disappear, press the ‘Escape’ (Esc) key in the top left-hand corner of the keyboard.

Step 11: Some of the things that you use the mouse for can be done with LENOVO Laptop Keyboard shortcuts. These require you to hold down one key while pressing another, and often involve using the ‘Ctrl’ and/or ‘Alt’ keys. Some people prefer using them to using the mouse. There are many shortcuts – check out the list provided by Microsoft Support.
