Before the motherboard can be removed everything connected to it, excluding the RAM modules and actual CPU, has to be removed or unplugged. So your graphics card / s, PCI devices have to removed, SATA / IDE cables, audio cables, USB cables, motherboard power cables, front panel button and lights cables and any 3 pin case fans that are connected. This can be the scary part for anyone that has never attempted this before but if you take note of what goes where you should be fine. If you are unfamiliar with what cables with this make sure you have your motherboard and case manual with you for when you reinstall everything, then it will be just a case of matching everything back up. With the motherboard screws removed you can lift the motherboard out of the case and now you have full access to both sides of the motherboard.
For this particular motherboard there is four screws holding the front bracket to the standard backing plate. Remove the four screws and put all the standard retaining hardware aside.
Here’s the motherboard free from all standard IBM 13N5182 CPU Fan hardware. Before installing the new aftermarket CPU cooler you have to clean the surface of the CPU. To remove the old thermal compound uses a lint free cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Be careful not to smother the CPU in rubbing alcohol you’ll only need a small amount on the cloth.

Some aftermarket coolers will come with thermal compound that features an application brush, some will come in a squeeze tube and some just in a sachet. If you get the later two then just apply a small amount of thermal compound in the center of the CPU (approximately the size on a grain of rice) and spread the paste evenly across the CPU surface. Use a business card to spread out the thermal compound evenly across the CPU surface until you have a semi transparent layer.

With the LCD’s mounting brackets exposed, you can remove the screws that secure it to the lid. Then rest the display front-side-down on the case and disconnect its cable.

If your laptop was made before 2010 and has a LCD with fluorescent backlights, it will likely have two cables. But as this is an LED-backlit LCD, it only has one.

Now, locate the manufacturer’s label and note the model number. Using this information you should be able to buy an exact match for your broken screen.

3. Install the new Dell JJ451  Laptop Screen

Once your new screen arrives, unpack it and make sure it matches the old one.

If the dimensions, mounting brackets, and connector all match, you ready to install the screen. Connect the new panel to the cable, position the panel in the lid, and secure it using the appropriate screws.

How to Raise LENOVO G560 CPU Fan Speeds on a Lenovo Laptop

If your business requires you to do a lot of work from your Lenovo laptop, you’ve probably noticed an occasional issue with overheating. Running several intensive programs on your laptop can raise the CPU temperature, causing the LENOVO G560 CPU Fan to engage. You may need to raise the speed of the fans from time to time to rapidly cool the CPU and prevent a sudden shutdown. You can boost CPU fan speed from your laptop’s BIOS menu.

Step 1

Enter the desired percentage at which the fan should run. To run at full speed, enter “100″ for 100 percent. You should only run fans at full speed for long enough to effectively cool the CPU.

Step 6

Press the “F10″ key to reboot the computer and raise the speed of your CPU cooling fans. To return the fan speed to normal, repeat the above procedure but switch the LENOVO G560 CPU Fan control back to the “Automatic” setting.

Can You Clean the Contact Between a CPU & Fan?

Step 1

Unplug the ASUS CPU Fan power cord from the motherboard and unscrew or unlock the connectors holding it down — there is usually one in each corner. Pull it straight out of your computer case.

Step 2

Release the lever holding your CPU down, and then push the metal strips that were holding it down all the way back. Grip two corners of the CPU with two fingers, and then lift it straight out of the computer case.

Step 3

Set the CPU and CPU fan contact sides up on a clean paper towel. Dampen another paper towel or coffee filter with isopropyl alcohol, and then carefully wipe the thermal paste off the contact areas of your CPU and CPU fan. If necessary, dampen a cotton swab with the isopropyl alcohol to clean it out of any crevices it got into. When done, wait a moment for the CPU and CPU fan to dry completely.

Step 4

Put the CPU in the desired computer’s CPU slot, and then lock it into place with the lever on the motherboard. Squeeze a small amount — a bit smaller than pea-sized — of new thermal paste onto the center of the CPU’s metal plate.

Step 5

Position your CPU fan over the CPU, and then line up its four connectors with the four connections on the motherboard. Push it into place, and then lock the connectors in to secure it. The new thermal paste will spread to cover the contact areas on the CPU and ASUS CPU Fan. They are now ready for use.

Testing an Installed Fan

Step 1

Download and install SpeedFan. This program uses data provided by sensors in your computer’s hardware to display information about the temperatures of various components and the speed at which the APPLE CPU Fan for those components are rotating.

Launch SpeedFan and wait a few minutes for it to retrieve data.

Step 3

Examine the information presented in the main program window. The speed at which your computer’s fans are rotating, measured in revolutions per minute, is on the left side of the window, while temperatures of various components are on the right side. Step 4

Click the “Charts” tab, select “Fan Speeds” using the drop-down menu and place a check mark next to the label corresponding to your CPU fan to begin generating a chart of the variation in the fan’s speed. Leave the program running for some time while you use your computer. Later, check the chart; a significant variation in the RPM number, in the order of 1000 to 2000, may also indicate a failing fan.

Testing a Fan Separately

Step 1

Remove the power supply from your computer, disconnecting all cables. If you have access to a spare working power supply, using that one instead will save you the time spent disconnecting it and reconnecting it.

Step 2

Check the power supply for a three-pin fan connector. Many modern power supplies have this connector; if your power supply lacks it, you will need to purchase a four-pin Molex to four-pin Molex plus three-pin fan splitter cable.

Step 3

Bend or cut a metal paper clip to create a “U” shape.

Step 4

Identify the 24-pin main power connector and locate a green wire and a black wire.

Step 5

Insert one end of the U-shaped paper clip into the pin corresponding to the green wire and the other into the pin corresponding to the black wire.

Step 6

Connect the fan you want to test to the power supply using the three-pin fan connector and, if necessary, the splitter cable.

Step 7

Plug the power supply into an electric socket using the appropriate power cable and, if necessary, turn it on using the switch on the back of it. Check whether APPLE CPU Fan on the power supply is spinning to ensure it is on.
